Technical Rescue Team
The Regional Domestic Security Task Force and the State Warning Group on Domestic Preparedness selected Flagler County Fire Rescue to host a Type II Technical Rescue Team in 2005. The team’s designation is TRT - 312.
The goal of TRT is to respond immediately to an emergency that occurs in or near our community. TRT - 312 is part of the State Emergency Response Plan (SERP), as such, there is a possibility that the team may be requested to respond outside their local area.
TRT - 312 consists of firefighters from Flagler County Fire Rescue. Flagler County Fire Rescue provides training to the TRT team throughout the year, and the training provided meets NFPA standards. Each member of the team is trained at the minimum to the Operations level. The specific areas of training are collapse rescue, confined space rescue, high or low angle rope rescue, trench rescue and vehicle and machinery rescue.
There are currently 32 FCFR members spread across all three shifts. TRT is currently housed at Station 50 in Bunnell and is available 24/7 to respond to any complex technical rescue incidents in Flagler County.
Benefits of the team could be considerable. On major incidents, most of the recoveries of viable patients are accomplished within the first hour. An immediate response of the team to complex and technically challenging incidents provides our members an opportunity to make a substantial impact on rescuing patients.
