Flagler County Emergency Management urges residents and businesses to participate in training programs to strengthen the community's ability to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and reduce the impact of disasters. See below for available training opportunities.


Community Training 

In partnership with organizations such as Flagler Volunteer Services, Flagler Humane Society, and the National Weather Service; we are proud to offer the following courses at no cost to all Flagler County residents.

Classes will be held at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center (1769 E Moody Blvd, Bldg. 3) in Bunnell; unless otherwise noted.

  • Community Preparedness Workshops (Click the link to view upcoming dates and times) 

    • Join us at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center for a monthly presentation on general preparedness. Learn practical tips and strategies to help you and your family stay safe and ready for emergencies.

  • Cribbing Class (Wednesday, November 19 2025 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare volunteers to be able to build and utilize cribbing for victim extraction.

  • Advanced First Aid Class (Thursday, December 18 2025 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare volunteers to be able to provide first aid in times of disaster. 

  • CERT Basic Class (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, January 13 to January 29 2026 1:00pm-4:00pm)

    • The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during CERT exercises, members can assist their community or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

  • Animals in Disaster Preparedness Class (Thursday, January 15 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare volunteers to be able to assist at Flagler County's Pet Shelter and care for their pets during emergencies.

  • Skywarn Storm Spotter (Thursday, February 2 2026 3:00pm-5:00pm)

    • Join us for a free Skywarn Storm Spotter class taught by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service. This training will teach you how to identify severe weather, recognize key cloud formations, and report critical weather conditions. By completing the class, you'll become part of a nationwide network of trained volunteers who help improve weather reporting and community safety.

  • Psychological First Aid for Disaster Volunteers (Thursday, February 19 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Equip individuals with the skills to support themselves and others during and after a disaster or crisis.

  • Volunteer Reception Center (Thursday, March 19 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare volunteers to effectively manage and coordinate spontaneous volunteers during disaster response efforts.

  • Crisis Clean Up Volunteer Training (Thursday, April 16 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Equip individuals to assist with the Crisis Cleanup online platform for coordinating disaster relief efforts.

  • CERT Basic Class (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, May 5 to May 22 2026 9:00am-12:00pm)

    • The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during CERT exercises, members can assist their community or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

  • Evacuation Shelter Training (Thursday, May 21 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare individuals to assist in shelters during emergency situations.

  • Civilian Traffic Control Class (Thursday, June 18 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Equip participants with the knowledge and skills to assist with traffic management during special events and emergencies.

  • Emergency Call Center Training (Thursday, July 16 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare individuals to effectively handle emergency calls and support emergency response efforts.

  • Point of Distribution Support (Thursday, August 20 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Prepare volunteers to assist in the distribution of essential supplies following a disaster.

  • CERT Basic Class (Mondays and Wednesdays, September14 to October 14 2026 5:30pm-8:30pm)

Using the training learned in the classroom and during CERT exercises, members can assist their community or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

  • Emergency Radio Communications Class (Thursday, September 17 2026 5:30pm-7:00pm)

    • Equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to use radio systems effectively during emergencies and disasters.
