Contractor Licensing

NOTICE TO COUNTY REGISTERED CONTRACTORS:

Effective July 1, 2025, local governments may only license specialty contractor license types that substantially correspond to the specialty license types offered by the State of Florida’s Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB). With this change, Flagler County is prohibited from issuing those specialty contractor license types that are similar but not identical to state-issued licenses.

Accordingly, the Board of County Commissioners on April 6, 2026, approved an amendment to the Contractor Licensing code to update definitions to mirror state definitions, eliminate local license testing and allow renewal of existing licenses and reciprocity.

An authorized contractor license shall be renewed each biennial year by payment of the applicable fee.  All authorized contractor licenses expire on September 30 of each odd numbered year.  Authorized contractor licenses not renewed by September 30 may be restored upon payment of late fee through December 31 of that odd year.  Any license not renewed by December 31 of its expiration year shall expire.  Reapplication will not be permitted.
