Each of Florida's 67 counties has state officers who are elected locally, and whose salaries and office expenses are paid locally. In Flagler County these are the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller, the Property Appraiser, the Sheriff, the Supervisor of Elections and the Tax Collector.

Constitutional Officers are established by Article VIII of the Florida Constitution and are accountable directly to the voters. Their offices operate independently of the Board of County Commissioners, so questions about records, taxes, property values, law enforcement or voting are best directed to the office itself.
