July 22, 2026 – Spectacular sunsets. Who doesn’t love them?
Flagler County is seeking photographers who would like to submit their images for the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) 2027 calendar contest “Spectacular Sunsets.”
“This is a great theme for amateur and professional photographers alike to show off their talents as they capture the beauty of Flagler County,” said Interim County Administrator Adam Mengel. “Flagler County is fortunate to have a large pool of talented photographers who graciously share their work with us for consideration in the contest. Flagler County has had winning submissions for three out of the last four. We are ready to shine on and greatly appreciate your participation.”
“We’re looking for images that showcase the vibrant colors and serene landscapes that make our state’s horizon unforgettable. From glowing coastal horizons to quiet, rural sunsets we welcome submissions from all 67 counties,” according to the FAC website.
Flagler County will submit the entries on behalf of individual photographers. The Florida Association of Counties will give winning photographers credit for their images in the calendar. In short, this is a bragging-rights competition.
“In the past when we’ve had a winning entry, FAC provided us with additional copies,” Mengel said. “I fully expect that we will be able to provide calendars to the winning photographer.”
Entry requirements are as follows:
- Theme – “Spectacular Sunsets.”
- MUST BE SHOT IN FLAGLER COUNTY (it is helpful if the location is identified).
- Photos must be at least 2500 pixels at 300 DPI. Photos may be cropped.
- Photos with logos, names, time and date stamps, or watermarks will not be accepted.
- By submitting a photograph for use in the FAC calendar contest you also affirm that the photograph(s) has not been altered using artificial intelligence or used to replicate, copy, or generate another artist’s work. Basic photo editing tools (such as Photoshop or Lightroom) may be used for minor enhancements like cropping, adjusting brightness/contrast, or color correction—but not to significantly alter the content or authenticity of the original image.
- Flagler County deadline is August 17 (Monday) so that the county can get the images prepared for submission and submitted.
- Submit to jmurphy@flaglercounty.gov.
A submission attests to the fact that the photographer/submitter has all rights and permissions to the photo (and for the images/likenesses of any identifiable people) and is allowing Flagler County to submit the photo in the 2027 Florida Association of Counties Annual Photo Contest, as well as for other Flagler County uses, none of which are for profit. Please include the following with your submission:
- “I, (full name) , hereby certify that the attached photo is the ORIGINAL WORK of the entrant. It is also understood that Flagler County will have the right to reproduce, publish and/or exhibit the work in any format including newspapers, brochures, the county website, or Facebook and other social media pages. It is further understood that Flagler County assumes no responsibility or liability for any submitted work.”
- I agree to indemnify and hold harmless FAC, and its agents and assigns, from any claim, including breach of copyright, against FAC related to the use of any photograph(s) by FAC.
