Build a Kit

These are recommendations for the average household and may differ for your household. Consider your individual/family needs when making an emergency supply list:
- Water
- At least 1 gallon per person per day for five to seven days
- Food
- At least enough for five to seven days per person
- Non-perishable packaged or canned food/juices
- Foods or special items for infants, the elderly, and pets, including snacks
- Non-electric can opener, cooking tools/fuel
- Paper plates/plastic utensils
- Clothing
- Seasonal/rain gear/sturdy shoes
- Blankets/Pillows
- First Aid Kit/Medication
- Prescription Drugs
- Toiletries & Hygiene Items
- Moisture Wipes
- Flashlight/Batteries
- Radio
- AM/FM and NOAA weather radio annually or battery operated
- Cash
- Banks and ATMs may not be open or available for extended periods of time
- Keys
- Toys, Books, & Games
- Important Documents
- Keep documents inside waterproof, and if possible fireproof containers
- Insurance, medical records, bank account numbers, social security cards, and utility records
- Document all valuables and their condition with videotape or photos, if possible
- Tools
- Keep a set with you during a storm
- Vehicle Fuel Tanks Filled
- Pet Care Items
- Proper identifications/immunization records, ample supply of food and water. Bowls/feeders, carriers/cages, medications, muzzle, harnesses and leashes
