Flagler County Emergency Management urges residents and businesses to participate in training programs to strengthen the community's ability to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and reduce the impact of disasters. See below for available training opportunities.


Community Training

In partnership with organizations such as Flagler Volunteer Services, Flagler Humane Society, and the National Weather Service, we are proud to offer the following courses at no cost to all Flagler County residents.

Classes will be held at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center (1769 E Moody Blvd, Bldg. 3, Bunnell) unless otherwise noted. Click a class name below to register.

Prepare individuals to effectively handle emergency calls and support emergency response efforts.

Thu, August 20, 2026 • 5:30–7:00 PM

Prepare volunteers with hands on-skills to safely and effectively install emergency roof tarps, helping protect homes and support community recovery after disasters.

Mon & Wed, Sept 14 – Oct 14, 2026 • 5:30–8:30 PM

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT members can assist their community or workplace following an emergency event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

Equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to use radio systems effectively during emergencies and disasters.

Thu, October 15, 2026 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to prepare volunteers to assist in community-wide mosquito inspections. Participants will be provided with the tools and resources needed to help in inspecting residential areas for potential mosquito breeding sites.

Thu, November 19, 2026 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This class is designed to give volunteers more in depth training on performing triage in the field. Class will also include how to work in the medical treatment area. Best practices will be given for both.

Wed, December 9, 2026 • 5:30–7:00 PM

Heartsaver First Aid teaches participants how to recognize common first aid emergencies, call for help, and respond with lifesaving first aid skills. Volunteers can take this class at no charge (without certification). If you want a 2 year e-card certification, there will be a charge of $19.25.

Thu, January 21, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to prepare volunteers to be able to assist with the care of pets at Flagler County's Emergency Evacuation Shelters. Volunteers will also learn how to prepare for their own pets for emergencies and disasters.

Thu, February 18, 2027 • 5:30–8:00 PM

This program is designed to equip individuals with psychological skills to support themselves and others during and after a disaster or crisis. Attendees will learn practical strategies to promote resilience and coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and trauma during disaster situations.

Thu, March 18, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to prepare volunteers to help at a Disaster Volunteer Reception Center, which effectively manages and coordinates spontaneous volunteers during disaster response and recovery efforts.

Thu, April 15, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to prepare volunteers to take calls from survivors of disasters across the nation and enter their information accurately into the Crisis Cleanup Online Platform. The Crisis Cleanup Platform is used to coordinate disaster relief efforts, primarily focusing on property cleanup after events like hurricanes, floods, and fires.

This program is designed to prepare individuals to provide support for displaced individuals in Flagler County's Emergency Evacuation Shelters.

Thu, June 17, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to help with traffic management during special events and emergencies. The goal is to enable volunteers to safely and effectively direct traffic, ensuring the safety of themselves and the public.

Thu, August 19, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to prepare volunteers to aid in the distribution of essential supplies following a disaster. Participants will learn about the specific volunteer roles at a Point of Distribution (POD) site.

Thu, September 16, 2027 • 5:30–7:00 PM

This program is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to use radio systems effectively during emergencies and disasters. This training will focus on GMRS Radios.
